Good Vibes in Old Town Lagos
There is plenty of cafe, chatter and Pastel de Nata within the lovely old town of Lagos. The young and the old enjoy all that Lagos has to offer, and it does have it all!
Move away from the heart of the tourist area where the shops, bars and cafes line the streets and buskers entertain the crowds, to discover the places that are tucked away down the many side streets.
The older residents armed with walking sticks and mobility scooters still manage to tackle the steep cobbled slopes, which can be challenging when it’s rainy. The glamorous older ladies meet up for their daily coffees and brush shoulders with the younger generations against a backdrop of walls adorned with colourful murals and street art.
Rows of decaying old townhouses are slowly over time, being transformed into pretty white and pastel colours that sit perfectly under a sea of reddish orange roof tiles. From the top of the town, where the robust and historic city walls stand, look out over the town, across the lovely long sandy beach of Meia Praia and beyond.
Old town Lagos is friendly, unpretentious and manages to retain a balance of traditional Portuguese living and cool urban vibes.
